If you love mountain scenery with fantastic sweeping roads then this is the tour for you! Many areas of Northern Spain are mostly untouched by the hustle of today’s modern life and in many of the small sleepy villages you feel that time has passed them by. You will visit the spectacular gorges and mountains of the Picos de Europa, beautiful National park lands and remote unspoilt medieval villages and towns. The Picos de Europa is a miniature masterpiece: a mere 24 miles across in either direction and shoehorned in between three great river gorges including the Deva and Garganta.
The start and finish for the tour will be a fantastic four-star hotel in Limpias, northern Spain. This convenient location is just 28 miles from Santander, making it easy to get to if you're taking the ferry to Santander or Bilbao. Plus, for those of you transporting bikes, the hotel offers secure parking if you want to leave your van or trailer behind while we're on the tour. You can expect the same high standards of accommodation on this tour with relaxing stays at 4-star hotel accommodation each night. We'll only use the best minor roads that Spain has to offer and a support van will follow us throughout the tour, carrying your luggage and providing assistance if you need it…all the things that make us unique! Day 1. Thursday September 4. Arrive Limpias
However you decide to get here, on arrival you have the opportunity to unload your bikes, unwind after your journey and meet up with your fellow travellers. Dinner with wine is included for our first night together. Day 2: Friday, September 5 - Limpias to Cangas de Onis (approx. 120 miles) Get ready for an unforgettable ride! We'll conquer the Alisas Pass (674m) and soak up the breath-taking views of the Cantabrian countryside. Explore the charming old town of Santillana, feel the ocean breeze along the coast, and marvel at the stunning Deva and Gargantas gorges in the Picos mountains. A relaxing evening in Cangas de Onis with a delicious dinner and wine included. Day 3: Saturday, September 6 - Cangas de Onis to Leon (approx. 110 miles) Today, we'll tackle the thrilling Beyos gorge and journey alongside the River Sella, ending with awe-inspiring mountain vistas at 1730m. Then, it's a scenic journey on the best back roads to Leon, where a four-star hotel in the city centre awaits. Dinner and wine? You guessed it - included! Day 4: Sunday, September 7 - Leon to Segovia (approx. 160 miles) We're off to our four-night stay in Segovia! First, a visit to the historic towns of Medina de Rioseco and Tordesillas. Next, we'll marvel at Coca's incredible 15th-century castle, one of Spain’s finest. Tonight, we'll unwind at a four-star hotel in Segovia's old centre, nestled by the iconic Roman aqueduct. For dinner tonight you’ll be free to explore the many fantastic restaurants! Days 5-7: Monday to Wednesday, September 8-10 - Segovia Three glorious days in Segovia! Discover the ancient Roman aqueduct, stunning Romanesque churches, the historic royal palace, and majestic Gothic cathedral. Wander the lively Plaza Azoquejo, and indulge in the city's many bars, restaurants, and shops. Monday is all about relaxation as you can take the day to explore this historic city. Tuesday and Wednesday offer optional ride-outs to the picturesque lakes and Guadarrama Mountains (approx. 135 miles), and to the medieval fortified town of Avila (approx. 100 miles). Each night you’ll be free to dine out and enjoy the local flavour. Day 8: Thursday, September 11 - Segovia to Lerma (approx. 110 miles) Today we're heading north and our first stop is the charming town of Turegano with its impressive castle and beautiful Plaza Major. Next, we'll cruise through the renowned Aranda de Duero wine region before arriving in Lerma. Our home for tonight is a magnificent four-star hotel with breath-taking views of the town and countryside. Once again, dinner with wine is included! Day 9: Friday, September 12 - Lerma to Limpias (approx. 130 miles) Our final day is packed with adventure! We'll ride to Covarrubias, with its towering cliffs and the native vultures circling high above. Visit the historic towns of Belorado and Briviesca, and cross the stunning Sierra de la Demanda national reserve. A stop in Medina de Pomar, and then we'll descend from 920m back to our hotel in Limpias. Tonight, enjoy your last dinner with wine and reflect on the past 9 days. Day 10: Saturday, September 13 The choice is yours - load up the bikes, ride home, head to the ferry…or keep the adventure going!
