A short tour to blow away the winter cobwebs! A four night, five day bed & breakfast trip staying at quality hotels in three towns famous for their history, architecture and culture. On some fabulous back roads, we’ll visit points along the coastline of northern France, from Calais to the WWII landing beaches in Normandy and some WWI sites on the Somme on our return.

After a leisurely start with a morning crossing to Calais, we ride the old coast road with its views back across the channel to England and on towards Boulogne. We’ll turn inland, taking small country roads to lunch in Montreuil – old walled town which is said to have been the inspiration for Victor Hugo’s Les Miserable. We head back to the coast and pick up the coast road to our hotel in Saint Valery-en-Caux and tonight you’ll be free to eat out. Day 2. Tuesday 5th May. Saint Valery-en-Caux to Deauville (approx. 100 miles) We continue to follow the coast, via the fishing port of Fecamp with its’ attractive seafront promenade, then onto Etretat where the “alabaster cliffs” of the region are at their most spectacular. From here we cross the mouth of the Seine over the Pont du Normandie and into Honfleur with its beautiful old marina surrounded by cafes and restaurants. After lunch we make our way to the Riviera of Normandy and Deauville, our stop for the next two nights. Our hotel overlooks the marina and tonight you are free to eat out. Day 3. N.B. If you do not require the ferry crossing, deduct £75 per motorcycle. What can I say...another brilliant tour. You are the master of the unspoiled traffic-free, continental roads. I had a ball...when I woke up this morning I wanted to point my bike at Dover and start the whole thing over again! |
