Day 1. Sunday June 12th. Calais to Reims (approx. 180 miles)
Leaving Calais we start with 35-40 miles on motorway before we cut to the picturesque countryside and back roads which take us to Arras for lunch. From here we continue on the sweeping country roads to the Chemin des Dames hills and then to the outskirts of Reims. Our 4-star hotel has a swimming pool, so time for a quick dip before dinner, which is included tonight.

Day 2. Monday June 13th. Reims to Strasbourg (approx.  220 miles)
Leaving Reims we pick up country roads and make our way to Ste. Menehould for lunch. We continue on quiet back roads as we cross the Lorraine plains, then over the Alsace Hills via the Donon Pass before reaching our hotel on the outskirts of Strasbourg. Once again dinner with wine is included.

Day 3. Tuesday June 14th. Strasbourg to Kempten (approx. 200 miles)
Today we cross the Rhine into Germany with a stop in Rottweiler which lies between the Black Forest and Swabian Jura. Rottweiler is way off the tourist track and seems little changed since the 17th century and known for the breed of dog introduced by the Romans. We continue via the old town of Bad Waldsee and on to Kempten where our 4-star, traditional German hotel is in the old centre and we will be free to eat out tonight.

Day 4. Wednesday June 15th. Kempten to Lienz (approx. 190 miles)
After a little motorway riding we cross into Austria and over the high Tyrol via the Fernpass and join a motorway to avoid busy Innsbruck. After lunch we climb high over the mountains on glorious sweeping roads, passing ski resorts and stunning scenery including the impressive Krimmler Waterfall. Our centrally located, 4-star hotel in Lienz means we will be eating out again tonight.

Day 5. Thursday June 16th. Lienz to Portoroz (approx. 170 miles)
Leaving Austria this morning we ride high over the Dolomites to Italy – the second of three countries today! More great roads and dramatic scenery as we take the high Plockenpass before picking up the motorway to Duino and lunch at a small harbour on the outskirts of the town. After lunch we follow the high, sea hugging road to Trieste, then a great countryside run to Slovenia and our 4-star hotel in Potoroz. The next three nights are bed & breakfast only so we have a choice of local restaurants and bars for dinner each evening. Our hotel is less than 1.5 miles from the rally site.

Day 6. Friday June 17th
Day off to visit the rally or explore Portoroz

Day 7. Saturday June 18th
Day off to visit the rally or explore Portoroz

Day 8. Sunday June 19th. Portoroz to Lake Bled (approx. 120 miles)
We leave Slovenia this morning, heading north and skirt around the capital Ljubljana before arriving at our overnight stop on the edge of Lake Bled. The fabulous 5-star hotel sits on the lakeside overlooking the castle and monastery island. Tonight we are free to eat out.

Day 9. Monday June 20th. Lake Bled to Kitzbuhel (approx. 150 miles)
Today we leave the Balkans behind us and return, via a mountain pass, to Austria. We head over the Tyrol again by way of the Felbertunnel or the stunning Grossglockner – Europe’s highest road pass. We then make our way to the famous ski resort of Kitzbuhel where our hotel is centrally located. Tonight we get together for a dinner with wine in the hotel.

Day 10. Tuesday June 21st. Kitzbuhel to Ulm (approx. 180 miles)
As we cross back into Germany we ride through the lush green mountains on the sweeping roads of the Alpenstrasse. Tonight we stay in Ulm, the birthplace of Albert Einstein and the home of the tallest church spire in the world. Dinner with wine is included tonight.

Day 11. Wednesday June 22nd. Ulm to Zweibrucken (approx. 190miles)
From Ulm it's back to the Black Forest, over the Rhine and then north. Cutting through the heavily forested region of France known as the northern Vosges (where the Maginot line once stood) we then cross back into Germany and on to our hotel in Zweibrucken where dinner with wine is included.

Day 12. Thursday June 23rd. Zweibrucken to Chamouille (approx. 190 miles).
Leaving Zweibrucken we cross back into France, towards the WWI killing fields of Verdun and then onwards to our final nights’ stay at a lakeside hotel in the lovely Chemin des Dames region of Picardy. The hotel stands on the edge of a large lake and every room has a balcony or patio overlooking it. Dinner with wine is included tonight.

Day 13. Friday June 24th. Chamouille to Calais (approx. 160 miles).
Motorway and main roads today to get you back to Calais in time for a late afternoon crossing back to Dover.

Total tour mileage approximately 1,950 (not including any mileage while at the rally or on days off)

Just a quick note to praise yet again your enterprise and skills with our latest completed tour. We don't know where the two weeks went and it is only when we look back at the photographs and itinerary that we realise what a tremendous amount we covered in a relatively short period of time. The route and stops were as always excellent, and to us more important than the intended destination, great hotels in superb locations, that put together with a friendly and entertaining group of people made a perfect trip for us.
