AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE – SWISS LAKES & MONT BLANC – 22-30 JULY 2010

Our first two days of riding takes us through France on some fantastic scenic roads before arriving in Switzerland and the resort of Montreux on the edge of Lake Lucerne. From here it's over to Chamonix, Mont Blanc and the glorious French Alps giving you five days in the wonderful scenery of the Swiss and French mountains and lakes, before returning on a different route back through France to Calais. Another "great roads" tour!

Day 1. Thursday July 22. Calais to Reims (approx. 180 miles).
After an early morning crossing Dover to Calais we head via motorway for 60 miles to Arras for lunch. From here we stick to the scenic back roads to our first night's hotel on the edge of Reims.

Day 2. Friday July 23. Reims to Besancon (approx. 200 miles).
Sticking to the minor, more quiet and scenic back roads again, we head south passing through Vitry Francois. From here, still heading south we follow the course of the River Marne to Besancon and our hotel. The hotel is situated close to the cathedral and citadel, by the River Doubs and tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 3. Saturday July 24. Besancon to Montreux (approx. 100 miles).
Today we go to Pontarlier and cross the pass at St.Croix towards Yvedon and Switzerland. Your hotel tonight, on the edge of Lake Lucerne, is in Montreux, famous for its Jazz festival. Also known as the former home of Freddie Mercury and you can see a statue of him on the lakeside. Tonight you are free to eat out and there's plenty of choice in this busy town.

Day 4. Sunday July 25. Day off in Montreux.
Relax in Montreux - wander around and window shop or take the paddle steamer for a trip across the lake. If this is not your thing then ride around to the south of the lake to visit Evian. Once again, tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 5. Monday July 26. Montreux to Chamonix (approx. 70 miles).
We make our way to Martigny where we cross the Col de la Forche some 4000ft above sea level and from here we head down to Chamonix Mont Blanc. Tonight's hotel is in the centre of Chamonix and you are free to eat out.

Day 6. Tuesday July 27. Day off.
Have a wander around this Alpine ski resort or take the train up the mountain for some spectacular views of the surrounding Alps and the beautiful glacier. Tonight you'll be free to eat out again.

Day 7. Wednesday July 28. Chamonix to Dijon (approx. 180 miles).
Over the mountain passes today to Annecy and lunch in Oyonnox. From here we run along Lake Vouglans and the River Oignin and onto Dijon where we stop for the night. Our 4 star hotel is in the centre of Dijon and you'll be free to eat out tonight.

Day 8. Thursday July 29. Dijon to Chamouille (approx. 200 miles).
We head north today, skirt around Troyes before arriving at Chamouille and our final hotel which sits on the side of a tranquil lake.

Day 9. Friday July 31. Chamouille to Calais (approx.150 miles).
