AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE – WEST COAST OF SCOTLAND & ISLE OF SKYE – 13-19 JUNE 2011

“Ceud Mile Failte”. This is Gaelic for one hundred thousand welcomes, which describes the warmth of the welcome that any visitor to the highlands can expect.
This six night, seven day tour takes in all the scenery and splendour of the lochs, coast, glens and highlands of Western Scotland as well as a two night stay on the stunning Isle of Skye. You’ll be staying at quality hotels and country Inns and dinner with wine is included for all but one evening.

Scottish piper and Harley

The tour will start at Gretna Green where a small amount of rooms have been reserved for those of you who may want to stay on Sunday June 12th on a half board basis. Cost for this is an additional £50 per person in a double or shared room and £65 for a single room.

Day 1. Monday June 13. Gretna Green to Ayr (approx. 100 miles).
We leave Gretna at 10.30am and travel along the Solway Firth and out to the west coast via Girvan and on to our first night’s stop in Ayr. The hotel tonight is the four star Western House situated at the famous Ayr racecourse home of the Scottish Grand National, Gold Cup and Scottish Derby. A traditional Scottish dinner awaits you tonight.

Day 2. Tuesday June 14. Ayr to Corran (approx. 135 miles).
Leaving Ayr we continue north, sticking to the coastline until we reach Gourock where we take a ferry across the Firth of Clyde. From here we run along Loch Eck and Loch Fyne and onto the pretty old port of Inverrary. After a break here we move on to Corran and our next hotel which sits on the riverside opposite the old ferry crossing. The original 'Road to the Isles' was over the Corran Narrows and at the top of the slipway on the Ardnamurchan side of Loch Linnhe lies the old Inn at Ardgour, Fort William. Hospitality has been offered here to travellers for hundreds of years and although the buildings have been altered, the traditional welcome remains the same. Dinner with wine is included tonight.

Day 3. Wednesday June 15. Corran to Isle of Skye (approx. 120 miles).
We leave Corran behind and continue north again along the coast & Loch Linnie to Mallaig where we catch a ferry to the dramatic Isle of Skye. For the next two night’s you’ll be staying at the Flodigarry House Hotel – formerly the family home of Flora MacDonald. Flodigarry has been a Country House Hotel since 1928 and although substantially upgraded over the years the hotel's traditional Highland character has been retained. Dinner with wine is included.

Day 4. Thursday June 16. Take the day off or take a run out to the north of the island – visit Flora MacDonald’s grave, the Museum of Highland Life or the Talisker whiskey distillery for a tour. Tonight we have a Ceilidh (traditional Scottish dance and band) and what better way to finish our stay on Skye! Dinner with wine is included.

Day 5. Friday June 17. Skye to Fort William (approx. 125 miles).
We leave the island over the Skye bridge and take the magnificent A87, passing Eilean Castle (where Highlander was filmed) and towards Loch Ness – a monster of a Loch! After not spotting Nessie we head south towards Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis, Scotland and the UK’s highest mountain. Tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 6. Saturday June 18. Fort William to Loch Lomond (approx. 100 miles).
Through Glencoe and on to our final night stay overlooking Loch Lomond. The four star Lodge on Loch Lomond Hotel is set amidst some of Scotland's most idyllic and unspoilt areas and surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery and sits on the edge of Loch Lomond. Dinner with wine is included tonight.

Day 7. Sunday June 19.
Refreshed after a good night’s sleep you are now free to start your homeward journey.
