AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE – GERMANY & RHONE HILLS – 15-22 AUGUST 2012
Crossing Belgium and the Rhine and then heading towards the east and a 2-night stay in Fulda with a chance to ride the fabulous roads of the Rhone region. Returning via the Mosel valley & Luxembourg - a great relaxing, scenic ride through parts of Germany rarely visited by foreign tourists.
Day 1. Wednesday August 15. Calais to Dinant (approx. 185 miles).
After an initial 80 miles on peage motorway we hit the countryside and head to Dinant in the picturesque Belgian Ardennes. Dinner with wine is included tonight.
Day 2. Thursday August 16. Dinant to Konigswinter (approx. 155 miles).
Through Belgium via Stavelot with its motor racing museum we then cross into Germany and to the pretty old town on Monchau. From here we head east to Konigswinter nestling amid the Siebengebirge Mountains and our hotel for the nights sits on the banks of the River Rhine. You are free to eat out tonight.
Day 3. Friday August 17. Konigswinter to Fulda (approx. 140 miles).
This morning it's up and over the Drachenfels Mountains, following the lovely sweeping roads across the Lahn valley before arriving at Fulda where we'll stay for two nights. The hotel is situated in the heart of this beautiful old German city next to the ancient castle gardens. You are free to eat out tonight.
Day 4. Saturday August 18. A day off to visit Fulda.
Take the day off to explore the many old buildings and sites some of which date back to 754 when an English monk was martyred making Fulda a new pilgrimage town.
A ride out is also available for those of you who want to ride up to & around the beautiful Rhone hills, making a return via the Harley dealership. Tonight you are once again free to eat out in this lively, vibrant old city.
Day 5. Sunday August 19. Fulda to Koblenz. (approx. 140 miles).
Our return journey begins and we head to Koblenz via Weilburg and Limburg. Historical Koblenz is situated on both banks of the Rhine at its confluence with the Mosel. The Rhine Gorge was declared a World Heritage Site in 2002, with Koblenz marking the northern end. Dinner with wine is included tonight.
Day 6. Monday August 20. Koblenz to Clervaux (approx. 130 miles).
Following the Mosel River to the old wine town of Cochem, we then head north west and over the beautiful rolling Eiffels to Clervaux in Luxembourg where our hotel is in the heart of this bustling old town. Dinner with wine is included tonight.
Day 7. Tuesday August 21. Clervaux to Chamouille (approx. 170 miles).
West across Luxembourg, we then cut through the southern Belgian Ardennes, before crossing into France for our final night at our hotel in Chamouille. The hotel stands on the edge of a large lake and every room has a balcony or patio overlooking it. Dinner with wine is included tonight.
Day 8. Wednesday August 22. Chamouille to Calais (approx. 160 miles).
Motorway and main roads today to get us back to Calais in time for a late afternoon crossing back to Dover.
