AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE - SWISS LAKES 2009

Our first three days of riding takes us through France on some fantastic scenic roads before we arrive in Montreux on the edge of Lake Lucerne. From here it's over to Interlaken giving you five days in the glorious scenery of the Swiss mountains and lakes, before returning on a different route back through France to Calais. Another "great roads" European motorcycle tour!

Day 1. Thursday July 23. Calais to Reims (approx. 180 miles)
After an early morning crossing Dover to Calais we head via motorway for 60 miles to Arras for lunch. From here we stick to the scenic back roads to our first night's hotel on the edge of Reims where dinner is included.

Day 2. Friday July 24. Reims to Besancon (approx. 200 miles)
Sticking to the minor, more quiet and scenic back roads again, we head south passing through Vitry Francois. From here, still heading south we follow the course of the River Marne to Besancon and our hotel. The hotel is situated close to the cathedral and citadel, by the River Doubs and tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 3. Saturday July 25. Besancon to Montreux (approx. 100 miles)
Today we go to Pontarlier and cross the pass at St.Croix towards Yvedon and Switzerland. Your hotel tonight, on the edge of Lake Lucerne, is in Montreux, famous for its Jazz festival. Also known as the former home of Freddie Mercury and you can see a statue of him on the lakeside. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 4. Sunday July 26. Day off in Montreux.
Relax in Montreux and wander around the designer shops or take the paddle steamer for a trip across the lake. If this is not your thing then ride around to the south of the lake to visit Evian. Tonight you are free to eat out and there's plenty of choice in this busy town.

Day 5. Monday July 27. Montreux to Spiez (Interlaken) (approx. 100 miles)
Today the Swiss Alps, as we cross high passes towards Gstaad, on to Spiez and our hotel tonight. The four-star Belvedere which stands in its own grounds near the lake. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 6. Day off in Spiez.
Once again visit the lake or just relax by the pool. If you don't want a quiet day then head up to Interlaken and on to the Eiger, Switzerland's most famous mountain. Dinner is once again arranged for this evening.

Day 7. Wednesday July 29. Spiez to Mulhouse (approx. 110 miles)
Today we travel on the shortest and quickest route but still using minor roads to Mulhouse home of the world-famous Schlumpf automobile collection which we will visit. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 8. Thursday July 30. Mulhouse to Troyes (approx. 200 miles)
Leaving Mulhouse we cross high over the grand Ballon the highest mountain in the French Vorges and Alsace. Then crossing the Lorraine towards the River Marne and Troyes with its high narrow streets of half timbered houses looking like a film set for a Tudor period drama. Tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 9. Friday July 31. Troyes to Arras (approx. 190 miles)
Riding through the champagne fields of the Marne valley, the Chemin des Dames and the Somme region of northern France until we reach the centre of Arras where dinner with wine is included for tonight in a nearby restaurant.

Day 10. Saturday August 1. Arras to Calais (approx. 75 miles)
Direct back to Calais in time to catch an early afternoon ferry back to the UK.
