Run to the Sun - St Tropez including the Harley-Davidson Euro Festival, 19 - 30 May 2008 Northern France Harleys... Sun sets over mountains

Our first long-haul tour of the year as we head south to the sun! Our four-day run down to St. Tropez is mainly on Route Nationales and daily mileages will be around the 200 mark. Once in St. Tropez you have a couple of days to enjoy what this lively French resort has to offer or visit the Euro Festival near Port Grimaud, only two miles from the hotel. The return journey is by way of minor roads and over the 6 days we'll take you to see some 'not to be missed' places.

Day 1. Monday May 19. Calais to Reims (approx. 185 miles).
After 60 miles of motorway we are on to the minor roads until we reach the outskirts of Reims - Champagne Capital of the world - and our first night's stop. Dinner with wine is included and the hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 2. Tuesday May 20. Reims to Beaune (approx. 190 miles)
Route Nationale to Vitry-le-Francois then cross country on minor roads and the fabulous scenery of the burgundy region until we reach Beaune - famous for its wine. Tonight you are free to eat out in the town. The hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 3. Wednesday May 21. Beaune to Valence (approx. 170 miles).
Today we have a combination of Route Nationales and peage motorway to get us past Lyon and to Valence in time for a relax before dinner which is included tonight. The hotel sits on the edge of the river Rhone and it has a swimming pool.

Day 4. Thursday May 22. Valence to Cogalin (St. Tropez) (approx. 200 miles)
Today is mainly peage motorway so we can arrive at the hotel by the afternoon. The hotel is ideally placed as it is only 2 miles from the rally site, 3 miles from Port Grimaud and 3 miles from St. Tropez and its beaches and marina. You stay for the next three nights on a bed & breakfast basis only. The hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 5. Friday May 23. Free day to visit the Rally or the surrounding places of interest.

Day 6. Saturday May 24. Free day to visit the Rally or the surrounding places of interest.

Day 7. Sunday May 25. Cogalin to Cavaillon (approx. 150 miles)
Our journey back begins and is done on mainly minor roads all the way back to Calais! Today you will ride the Gorges of Verdun, Europe's answer to the Grand Canyon! Dinner tonight is included and the hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 8. Monday May 26. Cavaillon to Annonay (approx. 150 miles).
Today we go via Avignon - great city of the Popes - the St. Brenezet Bridge and the Pont du Gard (a 25 mile stretch of a Roman aqueduct built in the first century). Then north along the Rhone valley before heading up into the heights of the Ardeche. The hotel tonight is on the outskirts of the small village of Satillieu and is surrounded by woods. Dinner with wine is included and the hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 9. Tuesday May 27. Annonay to Moulins (approx. 170 miles)
Via hills and gorges we get some fantastic views over the Ardeche before heading north via Vichy (infamous for it's WW2 puppet government and it's sulphurous springs) until we reach our hotel on the outskirts of Moulins. Dinner with wine is included and the hotel has a swimming pool.

Day 10. Wednesday May 28. Moulins to Troyes (approx. 160 miles).
Visiting the lovely old towns of Vezelay and the wine town of Chablis then on to our hotel in the centre of Troyes where you'll be free to eat out in one of the many restaurants in the historic centre.

Day 11. Thursday May 29. Troyes to Arras (approx. 190 miles).
Riding through the champagne fields of the Marne valley, the Chemin des Dames and the Somme region of northern France until we reach the centre of Arras where dinner with wine is included for tonight in a nearby restaurant.

Day 12. Friday May 30. Arras to Calais (approx. 70 miles).
Direct back to Calais in time to catch an early afternoon ferry back to the UK.
