AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE - BRUGES & FLANDERS FIELDS – 23-26 SEPTEMBER 2011

Our last short break of the touring season and we head to Belgium for a three-night, four-day B&B trip and a chance to visit beautiful Bruges – described by some as the ‘Venice of the North’. Bruges is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in Western Europe and with its old streets, magnificent main square and central canal system has become the most popular tourist destination in Belgium.

Day 1. Friday September 23. Calais to Bruges (approx. 100 miles).
We take a morning ferry from Dover to Calais. We start the tour on the quiet back roads of northern France, scattered with waterways and canals. After lunch we head to our hotel for the next three nights in the centre of historic Bruges. You are free to eat out tonight and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the old centre, a few minutes’ walk away.

Day 2. Saturday September 24. Bruges to Holland and return (approx. 50 miles).
You have a choice today; you can explore Bruges or take a morning run up to Holland return to Bruges in time for some lunch. The short run will go to the pretty village of Damme, before nipping into Holland on the return route. Tonight you are free to eat out.

Day 3. Sunday September 25. Bruges to Ypres & return (approx. 100 miles).
A more poignant ride out today as we make our way to Ypres, visiting Doodengang and the Trench of Death – a standing reminder of the horror of WWI where many fierce battles were fought. From here we go to Ypres in the heart of Flanders for lunch before heading back to Bruges. Tonight you are once again free to eat out.

Day 4. Monday September 26. Bruges to Calais (approx. 100 miles).
Main roads and some motorway to get us back to Calais in time for an early afternoon crossing back to Dover.

Total tour mileage approx. 350

As we are 3 nights in the same hotel and less than 100 miles from Calais there will be no support vehicle. Luggage must be carried on your bikes.
