AUTHORISED HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE TOURS AROUND EUROPE – CHAMPAGNE REGION – 21-24 MAY 2011A long weekend spent in the Chemin des Dames area of Picardy which lies on the edge of the Champagne region. This is not only an area of outstanding beauty – with rolling hills, woodlands and quaint villages – but also an area of historic interest. Some of the fiercest fighting of WWI took place here and it was the first area to implement trench warfare. The scenery in this part of France is beautiful, soft rolling hills and picture perfect villages and of course not forgetting the wonderful sweepy roads which are waiting to be ridden in the spring sunshine.
Our hotel stands on the edge of a large lake and every room has a balcony or patio overlooking it. A charming and tranquil spot for each of our three night stay. The hotel will be our base for the three nights and ride-outs for day 2 & 3 will include a visit to a Champagne house and Pierrefonds Chateau – most recently seen as Camelot Castle in the BBC series Merlin. Day 1. Saturday May 21. Calais to Chamouille (approx. 175 miles). Day 2. Sunday May 22.Day off at the hotel or a ride around the area and a visit to Reims. (approx. 100 miles). Day 3. Monday May 23. Day off at the hotel or a ride around the area and a visit to Pierrefonds. (approx. 100 miles) Day 4. Tuesday May 24. Chamouille to Calais (approx. 160 miles).
